The Respiratory System is a group of necessary organs that contribute to breathing. When breathing, oxygen is inhaled and carbon dioxide is exhaled. Some important organs in the respiratory system include the lungs, trachea, bronchi, and diaphragm. Oxygen is inhaled through the nose or mouth, so the air will not irritate the lungs. The diaphragm consists of abdominal muscles and other muscles that help the lungs contract and extract unnecessary products of respiration. The respiratory system is a very important system because not only does it allow for the process of breathing and living, but it provides nutrients throughout parts of the body. It withdraws carbon dioxide which is a waste product and brings in important nutrients for cellular function and overall daily living.
